Welcome to my website and thank you for visiting.

I have been designing and making bears since 1997. The name Bruijntje Bear is based on my surname ‘de Bruijn’ but is also the dutch  translation of  Rupert Bear (a British comic strip character since 1920). In the Netherlands we call him ‘Bruintje Beer’.
Since participating at my first teddy bear show in 2000 I am very proud to have won several awards and nominations for my bears and other friends.

I only work with high quality Schulte or Helmbold mohair. For my realistic bears I use the best alpaca in natural colors.
To give my bears and animals handpainted details they each get their own unique character.
If dressed, the clothes are also from my own designs and if hand knitted from mohair/alpaca silk yarn which complements the mohair.

My bears come with a Certificate of Authenticity, a name label and a photo of their portret in a pendant. They are made with a lot of love and special attention for details.

I try to participate yearly at a show and throughout the year and on this website.

All of the bears are collectables and therefore ‘Not suitable for children under the age of 14’ due to the small parts.
